Alyssa B. King has worked on the Rutgers University-Newark since November 2015. She began as a Clerical Assistant and was promoted to her current position as Business Assistant of the Joseph C. Cornwall Center for Metropolitan Studies. In the past, Alyssa has served on council boards servicing academia and its surrounding communities. In her undergraduate career, she served as Vice President and Chair of the Community Service and Development Committee of Pushing Our Women to Excel in the Real-world (P.O.W.E.R). She also served as Secretary of Black Awareness Society (BAS) and as a Student Government Organization Representative for P.O.W.E.R and BAS. Serving on these boards allowed her to give underrepresented groups on campus a voice. Since graduating, Alyssa has remained active and has served as Secretary for the Flag Raising Committee of the Guyana 50th Independence Anniversary Commemorative Committee. Alyssa a Leadership Newark Public Policy Fellow and serves on the Rutgers University-Newark Staff Council.
